COMFORT

Fandom: THE SECRET CIRCLE
Rated: PG
Summary: Forced to leave Chance Harbor behind, Adam and Melissa find themselves connecting in unexpected ways.

DISCLAIMER: THE SECRET CIRCLE was created by L.J. Smith and is property of the CW TV Network.

He couldn't understand how it was, that they had managed to escape Chance Harbor. They were both beaten, bruised, and broken. Their scars were different, yet, the same. Despite their years of friendship together. They had rarely been stuck together as much as they had on the road.

Sure, they were running, without much of a clue as to where they were going, but they were together. Diana had once reminded him, that he should stick close to the group. Do his best to keep them as a whole. Circumstances had dictated otherwise.

For the first couple of nights, they slept in their own individual seats. Melissa wearing one of her snug high school sweaters - one of the last remanants of their previous life still intact. While Adam slept with the thermal blanket, he always left in the back of the truck.

On the fourth night, outside of Las Vegas. They shared the back seat together. He laid against the seat, while she took up the other half. The thermal blanket covering them both. As a precaution, he wrapped his hands around her waist and held her close.

He had done similar with Diana. What seemed to be ages ago.

The next morning, they woke at sun rise. Melissa's eyes glazed over from much needed sleep. Adam brushed her hair out of her face. A small smile forming on his lips.

"Morning," he said. Melissa merely smiled back, leaned in and grazed his lips with a gentle peck on the lips. Adam froze for a second. His mind running a mile a minute. Something it hadn't done since Chance Harbor.

Diana crossed his mind. Uncertain as to where or if she was even alive. He was certain of neither.

He pushed the thoughts back, let his hands run down Melissa's back. Taking in the warmth of her skin, underneath her sweater and t-shirt before returning the kiss mutally. Melissa's hands rested firmly on his chest as she shifted to straddle him. There was little comfort within the confines of the back seat, but neither broke the kiss.

Until the need for air beckoned them fourth. Melissa rested her head against Adam's. Their eyes locked with one another's.

"Thank you," she said.

"For what?" he asked.

"Looking out for me," she said.

Adam ran his hand along her face, feeling the curve of her cheek. "You would have done the same for me," he said.

For a moment, there was an awkward silence between them. Neither looking away from one another. Adam still rubbing Melissa's cheek with his thumb. With his left hand, still on her back. He pulled her down, kissing her lips once more.

He didn't know what future awaited them. Wasn't certain if anyone else in the circle was alive, but he was content in knowing, that they had each other to make it through.

Aww, Adam/Melissa friendship, my otp for SS. I'm writing a multi-chapter fic that features this type of situation in a much darker plot but I like this for all it's fluff. <3

Thanks, glad to see others ship the two.

I'd definitely be interested in reading your multi-chapter fic. Sounds interesting.
